What to Expect

Whether it’s your first time getting a massage or your first time with a new Massage Therapist, it’s always reassuring to have an idea of what to expect.

First Things First

Paperwork

In order to give you the best experience, I am going to collect some information from you including:

1) contact information, health history, medications, occupation, and reason for your visit.

2) Covid Information/Release form

3) Signed Acknowledgement of Policies and Procedures

Once paperwork is filled out, we will step into the massage treatment room, and I review your intake forms with you to make sure that I understand your areas of concern and we make a plan together for your session goals. I will also talk you through what to expect once you

get on the massage table including whether we start you laying face up or down and the order of the massage. For example, if we start face down, then I will start with your back, move on to hips and legs and then it will be time to turn over etc.)

Generally speaking, the initial consultation can take about 5-10 minutes depending on your reason for coming in. A conversation about getting a relaxation massage will be different from a conversation about helping with a chronic pain problem but rest assured, our consultation time does not take away from your massage time on the table.

On to the Great stuff!

The Massage

Once we have gone over paperwork and determined a treatment plan of action, I will step out of the room, shut the door and you will disrobe to the comfort level we have discussed and you will lay on the table, under the sheet (think like you are going to bed).

Before I re-enter the room, I will knock on the door, confirm that you are disrobed and laying on the massage table under the sheet.

Once I am in the room, I will shut the door. Please note that the door is NEVER locked and that if any point during the massage you are uncomfortable for any reason, you are encouraged to let me know so that we can evaluate how to adjust accordingly.

I will again, go over the order in which I will give the massage, so you know what to expect and then we get down to the great stuff.

About Conversation

Different people have different needs. I love getting to know my clients, but I also know the value and benefit of finding time to be quiet, checking out and tuning into our bodies.

Know that whatever your comfort level is, I will follow your lead. The massage room is a safe and confidential place.

When the Massage is Over

Once I have completed the massage, I will tell you that we are done and to take your time getting up and I will leave the room and shut the door. Once I have left the room, you may get up and get dressed and come out of the treatment room once you are dressed.

When you come out, if the session has not been pre-paid, you will check out and we can discuss future treatment plans and schedule future appointments.

I will thank you for coming in, offer you the option of some water before you leave and remind you of the importance of post massage hydration, and send you back out into the world, more rested, refreshed and rejuvenated.
